Learn somatic dance processes as background for dreamwork, engaging imagery from Shin Somatics® Yoga and Intuitive Dance.
Engage in movement explorations of your dream images, characters, actions, and emotions.
Involve Jungian Depth Psychology in exploring dreams through association—as connections between waking awareness, the somatic unconscious, and psychophysical embodiment highlight dreams through dance.
Learn how to dance a dream narrative, confusing nightmare, or fleeting fragment. Each dreamer is encouraged to verbally share dream material through associations and through painting with a witness.
Dreamdances builds on the depth psychology of Carl Jung, exploring associations with dream images. It utilizes an expressive arts approach to dreams through visual art, movement, drama, music, and sound. The workshop draws on the curiosity of Dream Tending: inquiring into visitations and happenings. James Hillman’s approach to archetypes support our work, as well as Marion Woodman’s Dance of Three. We also involve the role of witnessing that Mary Starks Whitehouse introduced in Authentic Movement Process. Dreamdances also draws upon Shin Somatics depth-movement dance practices and restorative therapies. Partner witnessing comes into play in response to dream-telling and dream-dancing.
