Tuition for Retreats – and details of special activities

Meditation in Motion: Butoh Dance and Bodywork GREEN GULCH ZEN CENTER, Opening onto the Pacific Ocean, between Sausalito CA and Stinson Beach.

Future Retreat: TBA, $1295.

Price includes Workshop, vegetarian meals prepared with food grown at Green Gulch, and lodging in the Japanese style guesthouse, double occupancy. Single rooms, add $150. Opportunity for instruction in Zen Meditation from resident master also included. Stinson beach is just a 20 minute walk from the guesthouse, outdoor deck, and yurt where we hold our daily classes.

In the retreat workshop, we will create our own butoh-fu, visual and poetic imagery to guide metamorphic dances. Sondra's new book with Tamah Nakamura, on the founding and development of Japanese butoh, features DANCE EXPERIENCES for students and teachers from nine contemporary butoh artists. These will form the basis of our work in butoh at Green Gulch (See: Hijikata Tatsumi & Ohno Kazuo, Routledge, 2006). Students will experience the therapeutic potentials of butoh at the retreat and learn movement patterning in relation to hands-on bodywork, earning a full level of credit toward certification at Eastwest.
